Q.Does Capture Kits process images on site?
A. We can batch process images as time permits during the shoot. At the conclusion of the shoot, your Capture Kits tech will transfer all raw and processed images to either a DVR or your portable hard drive.
Q. Do I need proprietary software to process Phase One RAW files?
A.No, in fact there are several software options for processing Phase One RAW files including Photoshop CS3, Lightroom 1.1, Raw Developer, Camera Raw 4.0 and Capture One Pro 3.77.
Q. Can I rent a Capture Kit and use my own digital technician?
A. Yes, however a digital technician from Capture Kits will still deliver and accompany the equipment on the shoot. Using your own tech will not reduce the Capture Kit's rental rate.
Q. Do I need to pay for travel expenses?
A. Yes, if the rental kits are outside of the Nashville area, any travel expenses incurred will be charged. These expenses include airfare, vehicle mileage, additional airline freight charges, lodging etc.
Q. What happens if my shoot gets postponed?
A. If your shoot needs to be postponed or cancelled, and you can give Capture Kits at least 48 hours notice, your deposit will be either returned to you or held until the shoot is rescheduled, whichever you prefer. If cancellation is necessary within 48 hours of the shoot time and day, you will forfeit your deposit.
Q. When do I pay for the rental?
A. The rental deposit is due at least 5 days prior to the rental. A rental is not considered booked until the deposit has been received. The balance of the rental charges is due at the conclusion of the shoot and can be paid in by either check or credit card.
Q. Can Capture Kits provide media for delivering the images?
A. The Capture Kits technician will provide DVR media and have new portable 100GB hard drives available for purchase if needed at the conclusion of the shoot.
Q. What if a piece of equipment fails during the shoot?
A. All Capture Kits equipment is tested prior to rental however there is always the possibility that a piece of equipment will fail. If you are on a tight schedule or in remote location and need redundancy to ensure a successful shoot, please contact us for a revised quote.
Q. What if my shoot lasts over 10 hours?
A. All Equipment rentals are based upon a 10 hour shoot day including all set-up and tear-down of the Equipment. After 10 hours, rental of the Equipment will be charged at an hourly rate of $200 per hour up to 6 hours at which time, a second day rate will be charged. The overtime rate for the Digital Technician is $75 per hour and is in addition to the Equipment overtime charges.
Q. Does Capture Kits archive my images?
A. Capture Kits retains copies of all captures for a period of three days after the rental period at which time, the images are deleted. It is the responsibility of the renter to archive captures after the rental period.
Q. Do I need to have my own insurance on the equipment?
A. No, additional insurance is not necessary. Capture Kits maintains insurance on all equipment and in the event of damage to the rental equipment, the damage deposit collected will be used to compensate Capture Kits for the loss.
Q. Does the digital technician make coffee?
A. Nope. The Capture Kits digital technician is there to deliver and oversee the use of the rental equipment and is not available as a PA, assistant or grip. Many times, Capture Kits can make local recommendations for assistants, styling and catering if needed.
Q. Can I rent a Capture Kit for less than a full day?
A. The rates for all Capture Kits including capture, production, lighting and grip kits are based on a full day. There are some circumstances under which two consecutive half days would count as a full day rental. Please ask if you need to make special arrangements.
